Geocache Description:

Camocache
Placed on 25th May 2020

Oldway Mansion was originally built as a private residence for Isac Singer, the inventor of the Singer Sewing machine, it was then rebuilt by his son - Paris Singer in the style of the palace of "Versailles".

Torbay Council purchased the property in 1946, for £46,000, and used it up until 2017 as their offices. it is a grade 2 listed building. In 2017, the council decided to sell the building - to this date, it hasn't been used and is still vacant.

It has been used for quite a few films and has even doubled as "Buckingham Palace" in one film.

Oldway Mansion gardens (publically accessible with tennis courts) is 17 acres and our cache is hidden within!
