The back street of Irvine Park is called Bear Den Road. Along it you will see a series of odd features. A 19th century beer storage cave (see also GC8Q4DJ the First Beer in Town cache!) and nearby, some crumbling old bear pens. But what's the history here? Did the bears ever roll out the kegs and start drinking from them? Sadly for our story, no. The beer cave is from the 1870's and the bears did not come along until the early years of the 20th century. I suggest you first visit the cave and the bear dens. Peek into various intriguing nooks and crannies, read the historical society plaque, which by the way contains a few whoppin' errors. Then go looking for the cache. This is a high traffic area. It has had geocaches for many years and they are often "Muggled". So the location is away from the cave and pens. Follow the lower footpath, the one closer to the creek. The container is tricky....it is at least Muggle Resistant. But I'll need a bit of help with this one. Hunt and rehide discretely The cache contains more info, photos and so forth.
