This pathway leads to Chestnut Close, which was the first housing estate built in Haslingfield, its original 41 dwellings being built in the 10 years after World War I. Then in 1946 the estate houses were the first in the village to be connected to a sewerage system, having their own sewerage disposal plant - other parts of the village had to wait for up to 20 years!
