Located in historic Mercersburg is a little known hiker/biker trail named Johnston Run Recreational Trail. This .33 mile trail is a hard surface with a minimum trail width of 96" and average 2% cross slope.
Mercersburg PA was platted in 1780 and named after Hugh Mercer a general in the American Revolutionary War. Famous people born in or around Mercersburg include: President James Buchanan, Governor William Findley, Supreme Court Justice James S. McCullough, and Thomas McFarland Associate Justice Supreme Court of California.
It is also the home of Mercersburg Academy attended by actors Jimmy Stewart, Benicio Del Toro, John Payne, Dick Furan, John Hamilton, and Vanessa Branch (best known for Orbit Gum commercials).
The small town is loaded with history and now a days the area is loaded with experienced geocachers. One in particular comes to mind, this is his home turf. You will have to be quick to beat JZ to the GZ for FTF. (nothing but respect JZ).
