To me, geocaching is a solitary sport, or a family sport - whichever you choose, yet it is your choice.
Some cachers love events, some cachers never go. I respect both.
Moreover, geocaching can be a way of showing tributes to those whom we love and respect.
Sometimes, due to circumstances out of a cache owners control, a cache may end up archived. That's not to say that the cache idea - particularly if it is in memoriam - needs to disappear from our geocaching map. The memoriam may continue with a rebirth of that original hide, as we look after those in our community when need be.
This hide is a redux of "This one’s for you, Squirt." I could not let this one go away.
June 13 update:
Thanks to ScoutrP, the original container was found with the original logbook and swag when he went to find this 'redux'; we suspected the original could still be there, as it wasn't an easy find. It was decided that we would use the original cache container and swag again, as per the original memoriam. The new logsheet is now there with the original logbook as well, which has been signed by loved ones to 'Squirt'. With such significant assistance on keeping this hide true to its original intent by ScoutrP, he is now listed as co-owner of this cache. Essentially we are just the stewards of the original meaningful hide by Bluefin Rose.
The original geocache description follows after the pic below. This one's still for you, Squirt.

This one’s for you, Squirt
A cache by Bluefin Rose
This cache is placed in memory of young lady who was tragically taken before her time. In the spring of 2015, she asked me to help her fulfill one of the requirements for the Duke of Edinburgh award – geocaching. I showed her how to read a gps, helped her select her geocaching code name (Squirt98), and we spent several hours combing through the woods to find a wide variety of geocaches. Despite her fears and her struggles with anxiety, she was determined to meet the requirements for her Duke award. The final task to meet this requirement, was to place a cache. We had many discussions about what type of cache to use, and where it would be placed. Unfortunately, before she was able to place it, she was killed in a tragic car accident on December 23, 2015 at the tender age of 17.
It is in her honor that this cache is placed – I wanted to ensure that I kept my promise to help her achieve this requirement for her Duke award.
Alyssa, you will always be remembered. This one’s for you, Squirt.
