23July2018, the Carr Fire charring 229,651 acres, destroyed 1,604 structures and damaging 277 others, tragically killing 3 firefighters and 5 civilians. The remnants of this oak and countless other tree skeletons in this area, are a specter of the loss from this conflagration.
Last year (2019), this entire area was nothing but scorched devastated landscape. Look around you now, life is returning. BTW, if anyone has photos of either how this area looked last year post-fire, OR even pictures of the fire burning, I would like to get a copy to print and add as a permanent cache content to this container, to preserve the event. I could also add the images to this web page, and I will certainly credit whoever provides the photos. THANK YOU! This cache also birthed an FTF trackable coin created in memory of the late Joan E. Bliss, who has now embarked on her eternal worldwide adventure, joining all those who have come before us. Salute, congé, adieus, and au revoirs!
