Welcome to the Merrick Rose Garden! A beautiful and serene location year around, but especially worth the visit during the Summer and Fall. The park features roses of all varieties along with a spacious courtyard that is perfect for a picnic. It's especially magical when the Centennial Fountain is on, allowing birds (and kids) to splash around!
The fountain has a bit of history. It was first dedicated on July 4th, 1876, the centennial celebration of American independence. On July 4th, 1951, it was moved to Merrick Park and fully restored on and re-dedicated on July 4th 1988. The original and updated plaques can be found just behind the fountain, in the shady area at the back of the park.
While this can be a grab and go, I highly reocmmend spending some time there. It really is a magical location hidden in the middle of the suburbs. In fact, it's such a lovely location that we decided to get married there on a gorgeous sunny day in 2001! We return every few years for our anniversary, to smell the flowers and enjoy a family picnic. We hope you find it as magical as we have!
This is the second cache planted by my nine year old, Ruby.
