Geocache Description:

The listed coordinates are at the junction of Weir Road and Macpherson Street. The cache is not at the listed coordinates, but it is not far away.

Weir Road ends in 12 km at Weir Park, which not surprisingly contains the Burdekin River Weir. Water has been pumped from the upper Burdekin River to Towers Hill in Charters Towers for over 100 years.

At Weir Park their are parking, picnic, BBQ, uncover play ground and toilet facilities.

Shortly before Weir Park is a turnoff to the left for Dave Chapman Park, this is a larger fenced area with grazing stock and a 1.2 km gravel road; it also has toilet facilites and a boat ramp, upstream of the Weir. The facilites at Dave Chapman Park constitute the 'Water Park'

Just north of the listed coordinates on Weir Road are several signs. During high river flow events both the Weir Park and the water park/boat ramp may be closed. This is usually reflected in the signage, and is much more likely in the wet season, particularly February and March. Once the water subsides the boat ramp and or the skiiing area may remain closed until the river is resurveyed for obstacles and/or the marker buoys replaced.

Find the cache coodinates by solving the jigsaw of the Burdekin Weir from Weir Park.
