Years ago the Town of Sandwich built your basic skate park for the local enthusiasts. It wasn't the best but it was ours. And we enjoyed it for years. Then the town's insurance company decided it wasn't up to their standards and threatened to not insure the park. Then the selectmen got together and decided it must be taken down. No sooner had they banged the gavel ending their meeting, the single fastest thing that has EVER happened in the town of Sandwich, the D.P.W. bulldozed our park.
Well, the skateboarders and bikers got together and attended various meetings in town to repair the wrong that was done. It took many meetings and too many years but they got it done.
Now the Town of Sandwich has a bigger, better and badder skatepark. Some say it has the best bowl in Massachusetts. So come one and all and enjoy our new park with it's walking trails, tennis courts, pickle ball courts, soon to be disc golf course.
