Geocache Description:

In 2019 we discovered LiB's OTD (On This Day) series in Australia, and after a discussion with Natalie247 about the meaning of OTD, Natalie247 suggested this local OTD series, with a story for each day of the year.

The University of Otago opened on 5 July 1871 with a staff of just three Professors, one to teach Classics and English Language and Literature, another having responsibility for Mathematics and Natural Philosophy, and the third to cover Mental and Moral Philosophy and Political Economy. There were 81 Foundation students.

Both Mr and Mrs W.E.K.A., and both their sons, are University of Otago Graduates, which is why we picked this University and date.
