A templom hegyi kilátó közelében található ammonitesz tanösvény mely 160 millió éves fosszíliák lelôhelye. A mészkôlerakódás elôször 1915ben Lóczy Lajos dolgozta fel mely fajgazdagsága miatt világhírû lett. A kilátó tetejére felérve látszódik a volt kôbánya fala, ahol az elsô ammoniteszt találták. Az ammonitesz változása gyors volt a földtörténet során, ezért rendkívül alkalmas a befoglaló üledék korának meghatározására. Az azonos korú szinteket világszerte azonosítani lehet a segítségükkel. A krétakor végén kihalt ammoniteszek a puhatestûek, fejlábúak osztályába tartoztak, ragadozóak és dögevôk voltak, benépesítették a földtörténeti középkor tengereit. Az ammoniteszeknek a csigaházszerûen felcsavarodott kamrákra osztott háza az úgy nevezett rostrum maradt fenn kövületként.
Close to the 'templom hegyi (church hill) viewpoint' you can find the Ammonites Nature trail, where 160million years old fossils can be found. First Lajos Lóczy in 1915 have processed the limestone where the ammoniteses were revealed, the richness of species have made it world known. From the top of the viewpont the wall of the old stone mine can be seen, where the first ammonites was found. The evolution of the ammonites was fast through earth history, hence they are suitable to identify the age of the encolsing sentiment. The Ammonites species have vanished at the end of the Cretaceous, they belong to the mollusc caphalopod family, they are predator, necrophagous, were rich in the oceans of the middle earth ages. The snail like house of the ammonites the so called 'rostrum' is what is mainted as a fossil today.
