Geocache Description:

The Osprey is a fish-eating bird of prey that is listed as a state threatened species in South Dakota. A small population nests in the Black Hills, but Ospreys are very rare elsewhere in the state. Although historically documented in southeastern South Dakota, the first known successful nest in the state in recent times wasn't documented until 1991.

This is a n easy walk not far from an Osprey nest. You DO Not have to get close to the pole inwhich the nest is located. The nest is just off of FS Road 616. An easy walk and an excellent view of the nesting birds. The container is approximatelly 12" Long by 3" Round. There is room for small trading items. You don't have to cross the fence, rather use the gate.
