At the Rookery, Greenacres Glamping Site.
On this day twelve years ago we, The Coachman's Pair, joined the Geocaching Community and on the 21st November, found our first cache. It was GC1HBMR - Cut Throat Lane placed by matanza in 2008. We had no smartphone or GPSr, we simply worked it out on the map using the OS grid reference and hoped for the best. Needless to say we found it and this was the log we wrote:
"This was our first cache find!! Very pleasant, if very cold, walk with the dogs and all done by 1:25,000 map work in this instance. TFTC, here's to the next one."
That cache was archived in 2012 but, not one to let things go, we reinstated it in 2013. It became GC494AH - Cut Throat Lane Re-cut.
Eleven years on we're still out there enjoying a spot of caching, trying to achive goals and meeting lots of people along the way. We've made a lot of friends and had some great adventures. To all those, we thank you.
So, to this event. Please come and join us and help us celebrate and share your experiences and enjoy the community that is Geocaching. If you have Geocoin/Travelbug collections, or items you wish to move on, please bring them along too. There'll be homemade cakes and biscuits and tea and coffee too. The event will take place in what is known as the Rookery, a modified marquee that has heating if we need it! There's plenty of parking space and facilities should you need them.
Many thanks to Phil and Deni Besant for allowing us to use the venue.
