I can't think of a better way to celebrate the life of fellow geocacher, humboldt flier, than to host a Community Celebration Event in remembrance of him. Humboldt flier was an active member of Arcata and Eureka's Lost Coast Cachers geocaching community and liked by so many. Sadly, he passed away, unexpectedly, on July 22 in New Hampshire where he and his wife had been working at a KOA campground for the summer.
Humboldt flier lived life to the fullest and he applied that philosophy to geocaching as well. He started geocaching in 2006 and accumulated 14,186 geocache finds. You can see his full stats on his profile page. Let's come out and celebrate a life well lived while we share stories of this fine friend who has moved on to the "Great Power Trail in the Sky".
We will be hosting a simple BBQ at McKinleyville's Pierson Park Pavillion. We'll be grilling up hamburgers and hot dogs and providing chips for attendees. Please bring your own drinks. PLEASE INCLUDE IN YOUR LOG HOW MANY WILL ATTEND so we have enough food.
Raffle with some geo-prizes will be part of the fun, plus a couple of surprise activities, appropriate to humboldt's other hobbies. Pathtags will be available for those who would like one.
Here's a favorite photo of humboldt when we found Potter's Pond.
