Welcome to the 2020 Home Run Derby! Every Saturday morning a new cache will be released. After it is published you will have roughly a week to find it and select a slugger to represent you in that week's edition of the home run derby. Select one player and include his name in your log. The number of home runs he hits the following week (starting the Friday after cache publication) is your score; don't worry, we will handle all the scoring.
The series will be cumulative points from March through September, with a week off over the All Star break. The "catch" is every player must be unique, so FTF has choice of any player, second to find will have second pick and so on. The cache hiders will also be playing so the cache owner will select fifth each week. This is week 12 of the series (12 of 25). Since Major League Baseball has not started back up, no official scoring will take place this week.
Bobby Bonds is probably best known as the father of Barry Bonds, but he was an elite player in his own right. In fact, he joined the 30-30 club (at least 30 home runs and 30 stolen bases in one season) five times. Up until then the feat had only been accomplished four times in baseball history. He was such an outstanding athlete that one day in high school we was playing center field on the same day he had a track meet. In the middle of the game, he climbed over the fence and ran the 100 yard dash in 9.8 seconds in his baseball cleats without any time to warm up! He then retuned toi the same for a while until it was time to do the broad jump, where he lept 24 feet 11 inches, again while donning baseball cleats.
You can approach the level of Bobby Bonds by finding this cache. You could even stop by and find the neighboring hids for Barry Bonds while you're here. BYOP and good luck!
