Geocache Description:


Friedrich Wilhelm 'Ludwig' Leichhardt was a scientist and explorer who lead an expedition over 4800 km from Brisbane to Port Essington, near Darwin, via the Gulf of Carpentaria. He kept accurate records and maps which lead to graziers settting much of inland Queensland.

Near the listed coordinates find the plaque recognising the 'Camp of the New Gum Tree'

Take note of

the camp number 11A, 

which was located 2BC m upstream

 in the year 1DE5

 

This multi cache is not at the listed coordinates in Dave Chapman Park, but it is a short drive or walk away.

You will find the cache at S19° 57.ACC' E146° 17.DB(E/2)'

Check your numbers if you heading more than 400m away from the listed coordinates. Head back along the gravel road near the 'facilities'.

This cache is on land.

At the time of listing the cache contained an unactivated trackable (FTF), pencil, log book and some swaps.

Now it just has a log.
