In April/May there are usually lambs in the field, and it is an excellent place to watch them playing in the long grass. By June when the cache was placed the lambs are begining to grow up and are more frquently sitting around chewing rather than 'up tails' for mother's milk. For those of you who know the area, this and its related cache Ewe's View are on a fenced path around the edge of the field. This became a permissive path some years ago when the owner fenced it to prevent people wandering all over the area. Now this footpath is on one side of the St Ippolyts Brook, and unless you know how to access it you may be in for a frustrating time. There is a parallel pathway running the other side behind Oakfield Avenue/Ninesprings Way and there are several access points to it. The easiest way to reach the cache access path is to cross the stream at the bridge (approx N51 56.458 W0 15.530). All other access routes are likely to be long or involve getting your feet wet!!
Just to make it more fun, the path is narrow with a barbed wire topped fence on one side and lots of stingy, scratchy plants on the other and it is uneven and muddy in winter. Do you still want to find this cache? It is dog friendly and children can use it with care. Taking a buggy along the path is possible (just).
After all this trouble you will be wanting to find the cache. You are looking for an unusual thin black tube (it's an old pen)that unscrews in the middle; please do not try to pull it apart. Replace it where you found it and use some of the detritus around to hide it from prying eyes. Good luck.
