This interesting trail behind the houses in Schoenmakerskop was created by local resident Retha and her helpers. They took to the bush with chain saws and shovels and cut a path that has been filled with interesting and eclectic findings to create a lovely distraction for walkers. A lot of the things you'll encounter has a special story or personal link to somebody from the village.
Who are Freddie and Max?
Freddie the Frog is the guardian of the cache.
Max the Budgie has a slightly longer story. On the morning of placing this cache, one of my daughter Miggie's budgies was sitting in the corner of the cache and wasn't well at all. Miggie didn't want to leave him there so she placed him inside a small box and took him with us so that she could keep an eye on him. While we were walking Retha's Trail Max crossed the rainbow bridge and she asked if she could bury him somewhere around there. Max was buried close to the cache location and Miggie placed a few rocks on top of his grave. So the SPOR is NOT the cache.
