Continuing the Patriots Dynasty series, slightly out of order. Many will disagree, but this had to be the greatest Super Bowl ever played.
The Patriots came out very flat and this game looked like it was going to be a blowout and the official end of the Patriots dynasty. Bill Belichik is the master of the half-time adjustments so when Tom Brady and crew came out of the tunnel at NRG Stadium in Houston down 21-3 there was still significant hope in Patriot Nation. However, when Atlanta came out in their second possession of the second half and marched 85 yards in 8 plays hope was waning.
But little did we know then, the score 28-3 (with just over 23 minutes of game time remaining) would come to be a source of pride for Patriot fans across the nation! The Patriots, led by Tom Brady on offense and Donte Hightower on defense dominated the rest of the game. The defense stepped up with some extremely important stops, and one very well timed forced fumble. While, the offense moved the ball at will scoring on their next 4 possessions (which included one of the greatest catches in NFL...let alone SuperBowl...history and two 2-point conversions) to tie the game at 28-28 with 2 min remaining.
The first overtime in SuperBowl history commenced with the Patriots winning the coin toss and electing to receive the kick off. The feeling of inevitability was in the air and sure enough, 8-plays and 4 minutes later, James WHITE ran into the end zone to complete the greatest comeback in Super Bowl History!!
