Welcome to the Farmington River, Go left upriver from put in and once past the first maybe 50 yards of current, is a quiet water paradise. Of course depending on the number of kids in different areas their in the summer, music isn't always quiet nor what I like! But ignore that and enjoy the beauty and hopefully find some caches. None of these caaches were placed near poison ivy but there is plenty around the shoreline so if you need to get out of your boat keep that in mind. REMEMBER your pfd, boat wheels are a bonus as the walk to water takes about 5 minutes, watershoes (which just getting to the launch site you will realize how valuable these are!), sunscreen, water/juice, and a pen to sign logs. You might be glad if you brought your fishing pole too as an extra thought as there are some nice sized fish in here (If you catch any post pics!). Be prepared to have them startle you as you invade their camoed spots! Great for smiles! You may see heron, and deer, not to mention possible other treasures! These hides are typical water caches placed high enough to avoid rising water (can't say I wouldn't be out here replacing things if there were flooding, but it'd have to come up quite a ways!) The caches are wired in place, some hidden better than others, please do your best to keep the logs dry and reseal baggies and tops well. Remember you are under no obligation to go after any of these caches, you need to be responsible on any water caching trips, bring your pfd and sunscreen, and check the weather first! There are areas along the river that are great swimming areas but being a river can have very sharp drop offs and currents so again know your own abilities to stay safe. Due to portage difficulty is higher than an easy launch area.
