Geocache Description:

With more than 320 days of sunshine each year, World Heritage-listed national parks and lush tropical gardens, Townsville is home to some spectacular natural landscapes and attractions.

This multi-cache is ideal for visitors as it is designed to take you to six of the best locations that the area has to offer. You will need to visit the five waypoints to collect information and then enter your answers into the checker below to obtain the coordinates to the container placed at arguably Townsville's greatest attraction.

You may visit the waypoints in any order. However please be aware that this is not a simple park and grab as you will have to travel over 200km, including a trip to Magnetic Island to obtain the coordinates. The difficulty rating reflects this as it may take you several days to complete. I highly recommend spending time at all the locations, so allow for this.

Central - Hynes Lookout

Just metres short of a mountain, Castle Hill is the giant pink granite monolith that stands proud in the centre of Townsville - a perfect place for visitors to orientate themselves. The 360-degree views of Townsville at the top are well worth the journey.

On the monument find the distance from this point to Mt Low.

Call this answer A.

North (10km NNE) Picnic Bay Jetty

With a sweeping beach, tranquil setting and a heritage listed jetty, Picnic Bay on Magnetic Island is a spectacular location to enjoy a relaxing swim, beachside dining or a spot of fishing.

According to the sign what length in metres was the jetty once construction was completed in 1959?

Call this answer BCD.

East (16km SE) Wildlife Sanctuary

Home to over 100 species of Australian mammals and reptiles such as kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, wombats, crocodiles, and birds including parrots and cassowaries. Enjoy interactive experiences and Ranger talks daily.

Count all of the teeth of the Crocodile statue located out the front of the sanctuary.

Call this answer EF.

South (11km SW) Riverway Lagoons

Larger than three Olympic swimming pools, the lagoons are nestled among shady raintrees, with the picturesque Ross River providing a peaceful backdrop. A beautiful, free, year-round safe swimming environment.

There is a depth marker on the edge of the pool.

Call this GH.

West (64km NW) Little Crystal Creek

Crystal clear swimming holes and waterfalls, and built in 1932, the only arch road bridge that remains in service in Queensland.

There is a 4 digit stencilled number at the top of the stairs, on the up river side.

Call this answer IJKL.

Enter your string on answers (ABCDEFGHIJKL) into the checker below to obtain the coordinates and a pointer to the hide.
