Spinal Tap is a British rock band with a long complex both fictional and non-fictional history dating back to the early 1960's and continuing up to the present day. For example in 2009 they performed a one day world tour. The movie " This is Spinal Tap " is the genesis of the group; widely considered the funniest rock and roll movie ever made and has been pegged for permanent preservation by the American Film Institute .
