No 5 Radar Unit of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) at Cole Harbour Guysborough County Nova Scotia was one of operational radar units on Canada’s East Coast during the Second World War. It came to be in August 1942 and existed for three years to September 1945. No 5 Radar Unit (RCAF) was built the site on the barrens was selected because it was 300 feet above sea level and gave a visual horizon of about 20 miles.
