This cache is the final cache in a series of caches that I started to release in 2018. The series is called THE SiMPLY FORGOTTEN Series. As many of you know I have a broad spectrum of interests and I like to incorporate those interests into my caches and puzzles. One of those interests is New Wave music, I am not really musically gifted in any way but I do have this little hobby of using photos that I have taken or altered and then turning them into album covers for my imaginary New Wave band "THE SiMPLY FORGOTTEN" So I have decided to name the caches in this series after some of those imaginary albums.The cache/album names may or may not contain clues and themes related to the cache itself. GUESS WHO
In order to solve this puzzle you will need to decrypt the encrypted message using a keyed vigenere cipher located at the above link. The alphabet key for the cipher will be my geocaching name. In order to get the passphrase you will first need to solve the “Guess Who” portion of this puzzle by first learning a little bit about THE SiMPLY FORGOTTEN and who we are. My name is Diddy and I am the lead vocalist and songwriter. You will need to use the first paragraph below in order to figure out the names of my 5 other bandmates who are hidden among the 35 people in the Guess Who game board image below. Once you have figured that out you will need to use the second paragraph below to figure out who plays what instrument in the band. Once you know who all 6 of us are and what part we play in the band you can use the clues at the bottom to figure out the passphrase and then decrypt the encrypted message from above. Paragraph 1
Before we became “THE SiMPLY FORGOTTEN” we had a tough time coming up with a good band name. The first name we thought about using was “Specks Appeal” because everyone in the band wears glasses but that didn’t stick. Next we thought about going with the name The Follicles since amazingly we all still have a full head of hair but who knows how long that will last. We also thought about paying homage to fellow New wavers Men Without Hats because none of us ever wear hats, we thought “People Without Hats” might be cool but in the end nobody was happy with that one. Next we thought hey how about we pay homage to another cool band and go with “The Unhappy Mondays” since none of us ever show our teeth when we pose for pictures we all look so unhappy, again a dumb idea. After that we came up with the name “The Uncool Ones” because it seemed like we just weren’t cool enough to have a cool name, we never had great styles like other rock stars with their cool fashions and stylish shades, hell none of us even wear sunglasses. We felt we looked completely forgettable, that is when we came up with the band name “THE SiMPLY FORGOTTEN” It was perfect and it stuck.
Paragraph 2
Let me tell you a bit about the history of the band, I started this whole thing, my name is Diddy and I’m the lead vocalist and songwriter. The first person to join my band was our saxophone player, we call him Baby Face cause he can’t even grow a 5 o’clock shadow. Next Baby Face introduced me to our lead guitarist, a very individualistic type person, they have to be different from everyone else so they make sure that their hair is a different colour than anyone else in the band. We then hooked up with our bass player and drummer at the same time, they are actually twins and are a little hard to tell apart but the bass player wears different coloured glasses than anyone else in the band, so that makes it easier. The last to join was our keyboard player, a true talent who gives us our New Wave edge. The rest they say is history.
