This is the second cache in a series of park and grabs placed in tribute to the Nyack Volunteer Fire Department -- celebrating over 150 years of "Neighbors Helping Neighbors." Each cache will be hidden within view of the fire department we are honoring, but you must solve the puzzle to obtain the final coordinates.
Rockland is the last county in NYS to have a 100% volunteer fire department, and Nyack is the oldest department in the county, with 8 different fire companies. Empire Hook & Ladder Co. No. 1 is housed in a Queen Anne style building listed on the National Register of Historic Places and features a corner bell tower and a center gable above the main engine door.
While you're here, explore Van Houten's Landing Historic Distric with Greek Revival and Italianate style architecture. Nyack State Beach Park and Hook Mountain are just up the road for more caches and spectacular views.
