Lucy Holway Dixon
1897 - 1981
Lucy was appointd U.S. Postmaster of Kiptopeke on December 17, 1918,
back when there was a post office in the Kiptopeke Railroad Depot.
Lucy lived in a time when women would only work until they got married.
Lucy Dixon was a fiercely independent woman who was working in a man's world.
She was way ahead of her time.
Lucy never married and continued her career as a Railroad Agent,
for the Cape Charles Branch Railroad. later bought by Pennsylvania Railroad.
She took her job very seriously and was very good at it.
