De Lieve is het oudste kanaal van Europa. Het werd halfweg de dertiende eeuw gegraven als een verbinding tussen Gent en Damme, anders gezegd als een verbinding tussen de Leie en het Zwin en dan zo naar de Noordzee. Niet overal is de Lieve nog bevaarbaar. Met deze multicache willen we u toch kennis laten maken met een stukje van dit mooie kanaal. Tot aan de stash mag u toch rekenen op 30 a 40 minuten varen. Via 6 wp's komt u bij de stash.
De Lieve is the oldest canal in Europe. It was dug in the mid-thirteenth century as a connection between Ghent and Damme, in other words as a connection between the Leie and the Zwin and then to the North Sea. The Lieve is not always navigable. With this multicache we would like to introduce you to a part of this beautiful channel. Until the stash you can still count on a 30 to 40 minute boat ride. You reach the stash via 6 wp's.
