Gateway to Adventure is a new cache that is located at the entrance to a very popular hiking road/trail that winds uphill into Calaveras Big Trees State Park. If you follow the road to the end, you will be at the Scenic Lookout and the main road that goes through Big Trees. About half way up, you can hang a left and head down to the North Grove Campground. A little further up, you'll come to another intersection and a right turn here takes you onto Ben Smith Road which winds down to a gate on Love Creek Road. The hike from the entrance gate to the top is about 1.3 miles and winds through the forest. Perfect for hiking or biking. There is some parking near the entrance and if that is full, plenty of places to pull over and park down the hill a ways.
Along this hiking route I have several other caches placed and it seemed to logical to have one at the entry point. Hence the name, Gateway to Adventure. You will need a pen or pencil to fill in the logbook. Please put the cache back carefully!
