Welcome to my 5th geocaching walk, this time around the villages of West Hallam, Smalley and Stanley Common, hence West Hallam And Smalley (WHASM). The route is about 5 miles long, and is mostly flat so nothing too strenuous. The route is NOT suitable for cycling. It is all on public footpaths and crosses some fields in which there is livestock, including sheep, goats, horses and - dare I say it – cows. I placed the caches when there were cows in the fields and wasn’t troubled by their presence but please cache safely and if you are not a cow fan then remember you are entitled to use adjacent fields to avoid encounters. All caches are placed to find and are a mixture of micros and small caches. It is as much about the walk as the caches so no high D/T combinations in this walk. You cross the main road twice. It’s a 40mph limit so exercise great care crossing, particularly if with little cachers.
Start from the community centre and then go into Bagot Road
