Welcome to the Morrin Historical Park! This is a delightful little park in the middle of Morrin, with all sorts of curious pieces on display, besides the little sod house, which was built in 1980 to celebrate Alberta's 75th anniversary. It was built using traditional methods. The park also has a buffalo rubbing stone (most likely a glacial erratic), a brick oven, an old tractor, a time capsule (to be opened in 2020!), several plaques and displays detailing local history, and a few other interesting curiosities. The time capsule interested us, seeing as it says 2020 on it, but we could find no information on when they plan on opening it, or what was inside of it. If you happen to have any info on that, please let us know!
Morrin was originally named "Blooming Prairie," a name which we much prefer. In 1911 the name was changed to Morrin, after the first train engineer.
There is "Morrin" this park than you might imagine! We hope the cache will be highly "sod" after! :)
Enjoy your visit.
(This cache may require a tool of the trade, if it gets pushed in too far. Nothing fancy, even a small stick would do the trick.)
