IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO ADD TO THIS SERIES, PLEASE CONTACT THE SERIES OWNER (SEE BELOW)
We are often told (correctly, if somewhat ideologically), that geocaches should take us to somewhere "interesting", and not simply be placed just for the sake of it. The aim of this series is to try and adhere to this ideal by basing caches around details given on an Interpretation Board about the area in which it is situated. By definition, it is hoped that this information will be "interesting", and will help the cacher discover things about the area that would often not be revealed by a traditional cache.

The Swamp in Penkridge is a small nature reserve situated between the A449 and the main West Coast railway line, Despite its diminutive size it is home to a variety of wildlife species, as portrayed by the Interpretation Board at the posted coordinates. This simple multi cache is designed to show you some information about the area and for you to enjoy a short stroll through the Swamp.
Parking coordinates are suggested in Grange Road. Market days in Penkridge are Wednesdays and Saturdays, when the village is usually bustling.
In order to discover the whereabouts of the cache you will need to use the information on the board to answer some questions.
1. Lord Hatherton built the new St Michaels Road in 186A.
2. B types of Pond Life are listed. (Paragraph 'About the Swamp', bold print.)
3. The pools were de-silted in 200C.
4. The walk through the swamp is D65m.
5. There are E letters in Mr Craddock's first name.
6. Look at the group of six photos of wildlife at the RHS of the board. To find F, add together the number of kingfishers, the number of egrets and the number of blackcaps. Then add this total to the number of photos of birds in this section.
Checksum A + B + C + D + E + F = 22
The cache can be found at N52 43.ABC W002 07.DEF
