ENGLISH
A short definition, the serpentinite is composed of the minerals that make up the peridotite that formed in the earth's mantle when the magma cooled, also with the serpentine minerals through the serpentinization. But, let's specify a little more his steps
Serpentinite is a metamorphic rock. But unlike the majority of metamorphic rocks that form from increased heat and pressure, Serpentinite is created when peridotite, an igneous rock containing olivine and pyroxene, reacts with hot sea water circulating through fractures in the rock under relatively low temperature conditions. This alteration of certain magnesium silicates, especially olivine, pyroxene, and amphiboles creates the mineral known as serpentine. Serpentine is not a single mineral, but a group of related minerals that we will see later. The natural alterations with the composition of the serpentine minerals create the serpentinite rock.
The peridotite typically form in the earth’s mantle below the crust. This deep in the earth, the temperature is very high and the pressure exerted by the overlying rock is very high. The minerals that form during these conditions are stable only under these conditions.
Collisions between the different tectonic plates cause the peridotite to rise, towards the Earth's crust. As the peridotie is pushed up into the crust at a mid-ocean spreading center and moves away, the temperature and pressure on the minerals is reduced. Fractures from plate movement and cooling rock create conduits for sea water to come into contact with the peridotie.
Serpentinization
Now that the minerals that make up the peridotie are no longer in the high pressure and temperature conditions under which they are stable, they begin to metamorphose. Water is incorporated into the minerals and they become serpentine minerals turning the peridotie into serpentinite. This methamorphic process is called serpentization.
In this process of metamorphism from peridotite to serpentinite it is one that changes the physical properties of the rock. The rock decreasing the density of the rock. This further enlarges any cracks in the rock allowing more water to come into contact with unmetamorphosed peridotie, continuing the process deeper into the rock. This less dense rock begins to work its way up through more dense material above it, partially explaining how serpentintie is exposed at the earth’s surface.
Lets see more close...
Looking closely at this façade, we find a very peculiar serpinita, already made up of a multitude of minerals.
The main mineral that makes mainly the serpentinite is serpentine. The serpentine contains many minerals that make up this mineral, the serpentinite will be observed with different characteristics depending on the amount of composition of the three most common serpentine minerals of the rock. These minerals are lizardite, chrysotile, and antigorite. Lizardite and antigorite form platy (flat flakes) crystals while chrysotile forms fibrous (long strands) crystals. Fibrous chrysotile is the most common form of asbestos.
These minerals are lizardite, chrysotile and antigorite. The antigorite forms dark green laminated crystals (flat scales). Chrysotile forms short, soft and flexible white cross-fibers in narrow veins. Lizardite occurs as light-green to dull green-white grains or masses.

On the whole, this rock is jet black in color when fresh, but chemical weathering from the atmosphere rapidly turns it from black-to-green-to-yellow-to brown, due to the oxidation of the iron and magnesium-rich minerals present. Looking more closely at this rock, it contains many unique minerals and some rare types as well.

1. Knowing the 3 most common minerals in the composition of the serpentine, look at the piece of wall inside the blue square in the following image, which mineral do you think predominates?
2. Currently, there are more than 360 serpintinite subtypes depending on their origin and mineral composition. Already having observed and knowing this mineral, would you know to say what type of serpintinita is more similar to the wall that you are observing?
3. In this facade, the green and white colors are the predominant colors, but you can see how the serpentine takes on a brown color in various areas, what do you think it is due to?

CASTELLANO
