The first of a series of caches taking you on a walk around St Denys, a vibrant and diverse riverside community.
The cache is positioned in Pettinger Gardens, near the Priory Boatyard, a residential mooring of several houseboats. St Denys is named for the 12th-century St Denys Priory, of which little remains (one surviving archway may be seen in the Tudor House Museum, Southampton). Previously an area of small scattered farms, St Denys was extensively developed in the 19th century into its current grid of streets, with housing estates such as Pettinger and Janaway Gardens added in the late 20th century.
