Εάν έχετε ένα όχημα με κίνηση σε όλους τους τροχούς και πάνω από όλα με επαρκή απόσταση από το έδαφος, έχετε την ευκαιρία να κάνετε μια πολύ ωραία εκδρομή σε ένα εξαιρετικό περιβάλλον. Από το Οροπέδιο Λασιθίου (800 μ.) μπορείτε να ανεβείτε σε χωματόδρομους στο Οροπέδιο Καθαρού (1100 μ.). Πάλι σε χωματόδρομους θα κατεβείτε στο χωριό Μάλες (500 μ.) στις πλαγιές των βουνών Δίκτη.

Μετά από έντονες βροχοπτώσεις, ειδικά το χειμώνα ή την άνοιξη, μπορεί να είναι δύσκολο να περάσετε τον δρόμο σε κάποια μέρη. Όμως, η διαδρομή είναι σημαντική για τους αγρότες της περιοχής, έτσι οι ζημιές συνήθως επισκευάζονται γρήγορα. Ήμασταν εδώ σε διαφορετικές εποχές και ο δρόμος ήταν πάντα σε καλή κατάσταση.

Παρ 'όλα αυτά: Εάν φτάσετε σε ένα μέρος όπου έχετε αμφιβολίες να περάσετε, καλύτερα τότε να επιστρέψετε. (Τα McDonalds έγραψε επίσης στην κούπα του καφέ: "Προσοχή, ζεστό ρόφημα, μπορεί να προκαλέσει εγκαύματα!")

Φυσικά μπορείτε να πάτε τη διαδρομή και προς τις δύο κατευθύνσεις, είτε από το Οροπέδιο Λασιθίου ξεκινώντας με το geocache (Α) είτε από τις Μάλες προς τα βόρεια ξεκινώντας με geocache (Ν).

... και αυτά είναι τα geocache που μπορείτε να βρείτε:

Υπάρχουν σχεδόν 25 χιλιόμετρα για να οδηγήσετε. Ο καθαρός χρόνος ταξιδιού πρέπει να είναι περίπου 1½ ώρες. Συνολικά, θα ταξιδέψετε περισσότερο από τρεις ώρες εάν θέλετε να βρείτε όλα τα κουτιά.

There is a dirt road leading from Lasithi Plateau (800 m) up to the Katharo Plateau (1100 m) and from there along the eastern slopes of the Dikti Mountains to the small village of Males (500 m). From there you may continue on paved roads down to Myrtos at the Libyan Sea. If you have a 4x4-vehicle and above all with sufficient ground clearance, you have the opportunity to go on a very nice trip in an exceptional environment.

After heavy rains, especially in winter or spring, it might be difficult to pass the road in one place or another. However, since the route is important for the agricultuire of the area, damage is usually repaired quickly. We were here in different seasons and the road was always in good condition.

Nevertheless: If you come to a place that is not passable due to special circumstances, then you just have to turn around. (McDonalds also wrote on his coffee mug: "Caution, hot drink, can cause burns!")

Of course you can drive the route in both directions, either from the Lasithi Plateau starting with geocache (A) or from Males northwards starting with geocache (Ν).

There are almost 25 kilometers to drive. The pure travel time should be around 1½ hours. In total, you will be more than three hours on the road if you want to find all the caches.

Von der Lasithi-Hochebene (800 m) führt ein unbefestigter Fahrweg hoch zur Katharo-Hochebene (1100 m) und von dort über die Osthänge des Dikti-Gebirges hinab zu dem kleinen Bergdorf Males (500 m). Von dort führen asphaltierte Landstrassen hinunter nach Myrtos am Libyschen Meer. Wer ein Fahrzeug mit Allradantrieb und vor allem mit genügend Bodenfreiheit hat, hat hier die Möglichkeit, einen sehr schönen Ausflug in einer außergewöhnlichen Umgebung zu unternehmen.

Nach schweren Regenfällen, also vor allem im Winter oder Frühjahr, könnten Ausspülungen den Fahrweg an der einen oder anderen Stelle nur schwer passierbar machen. Da die Strecke jedoch für die Bewirtschaftung der Gegend wichtig ist, werden Schäden in der Regel zügig behoben. Wir waren hier zu unterschiedlichen Jahreszeiten unterwegs und stets war der Fahrweg in ausreichend gutem Zustand.

Dennoch: Solltet Ihr an eine Stelle kommen, die wegen besonderer Umstände nicht passierbar ist, dann heißt es halt umdrehen. (McDonalds schreibt auf seine Kaffebecher auch drauf: „Vorsicht, heißes Getränk, kann zu Verbrennungen führen!“)

Selbstverständlich kann man die Strecke in beiden Richtungen fahren, entweder von der Lasithi-Hochebene aus nach Süden beginnend mit Geocache (A) oder von Males aus nach Norden beginnend mit Geocache (N).

Es sind insgesamt knapp 25 Kilometer zu fahren. Die reine Fahrzeit dürfte wohl bei etwa 1½ Stunden liegen. Insgesamt seid Ihr sicher mehr als drei Stunden unterwegs, wenn Ihr alle Dosen finden wollt.
