The “Book Benches of Centre County” was a community project that began in the fall of 2014 focusing on transforming Centre County through community engagement in arts and culture.  The project was inspired by the Book Benches of London, and culminated with a total of 25 unique pieces of art that “ invite people to sit, read, congregate, and engage others - promoting community spirit, art, and tourism.”  For more information about the Book Benches, please see the website www.bookbenches.org.

NOTE – This Multi is all within a 6 block walking radius, and it is recommended you walk, as parking is limited near the end.

This Multi-cache begins in Downtown State College.  The bench at Beaver & Allen is focused on The Arts, and is a beautiful accent to a busy street.

To get to the next stage from here, you will need to solve this puzzle –

A = the number of paint colors on the pallet on the picture on the BACK of the bench

The next stage is at  N 40 47.57A   W 77 51.5AA

The first two letters of the code word are the first two letters of the 3rd word on the back of the bench.

Stage Two

Our next bench “highlights thinking as a process of natural and organic growth.”.

To get to the next stage –

B = the number after the Artist’s name on the picture on the BACK of the bench.

C = 75 – B

The next stage is at   N 40 47.5B   W 77 51.5C

The next two letters of the code word are the two missing letters in “The __ __ap” (from the back of the bench).

Stage Three

Our next bench is in a tiny park and highlights the love of farm animals in Centre Co.  It was a cooperative effort coordinated by local art teachers, involving local students and community members.

To get to the final stage and find the geocache container –

D = the number of bars in the window in the picture on the BACK of the bench.

The final stage is located at  N 40 47.D1D   W 77 51.D92

The next two letters of the code word are the first two letters of the middle animal in the picture on the back of the bench.  The final two letters will be printed inside the geocache container.  Please note that the code word is 8 letters, but is not a real word.

Permit for the final is #CRPR-2020-04-24-02
