Diese Schutzhütte wurde nach den Gebrüdern Harz benannt.

Herrmann und Otto Harz waren Ilmenauer Bobfahrer, von denen Otto 1951 in Oberhof bei der Viererbobmeisterschaft tödlich verunglückte.
