Geocache Description:

Chelker Walk #1 - Redux

The cache is intended to be done as part of the circular The Chelker Walk series and was hidden in recognition of Santos L Helper's cache The Chelker Walk 1 which was hidden near here on 5/4/09 and archived on 13/10/19 after a life of over 10 years and some 183 finds.

To Reach the Cache: park in the large lay-by @ N 53 57.219 W 1 54.212 adjacent to GC7WTYT Chelker - Emergency? and take the signed public footpath through the woods and (carefully!) across the golf course, following the orange posts (*where you can see them!) and on to the cache location in a large field adjacent to the farm.

[*after exiting the first patch of woodland and crossing a fairway, as you get to a line of trees around N 53 57.263 W 1 54.162 instead of going straight ahead across the next fairway, head down a small path to the right which skirts left around a green to join a clear path heading up along the edge of some woodland up to N 53 57.323 W 1 54.090. Go straight across the edge of the next green and pick up a path heading left through the trees and following the remaining orange posts through and out of the course].

Note: the 'dangerous area' attribute is used because of the (hopefully obvious) risk of being hit by a golf ball. One dropped out of the blue within 10m of me as I crossed the course trying to find a suitable | safe route - so do miniise any risk by keeping a good look-out for activity on the course!

The series now consists of 8 caches, 5 of the original series + 3 of mine, and takes you on a fine 4km circuit across a golf course then through fine open grassy countryside and around Haw Pike with great views all around.

On the outward leg, these are especially to the east along the Wharfe valley and across to Beamsley Beacon and high moorland beyond. On the return leg there are more to the west towards Chelker Reservoir, Skipton Moors and beyond.

The walk will take around 2 hours to complete allowing for multiple stops for caches and to admire the view | take photos | absorb the sights and sounds . . . enjoy!
