I've been wanting to place a geocache in this cemetery for some time and I finally was able to today. Apparently Henry Brunk and three of his children are buried here. He deserted from the confederate army and stayed in the attics of friends and relatives. Later, with other young objectors, he, he crossed the mountains to Hagerstown, Maryland. Eventually, his wife and her friend crossed the mountains also to join their husbands again. They temporarily settled in Illinois, then went through Missouri, their goal being Kansas. Due to the absence of hospitality there, they had to resort to drinking dirty water and thus came down with typhoid fever. They arrived in Marion County, Kansas in October of 1873, burying Henry and his children here. This is a well maintained cemetery. Please only look at the hint if you have made a sufficient search with no luck. I hope you like the container!! Enjoy the cache!
