Most of my friends know that I love to travel, especially in my home state of Georgia. For me, riding along the back roads of our state is one the most enjoyable things one can do. My appreciation of this was most likely due to my upbringing. My parents, and especially my dad, loved to travel. We went on trips frequently. My sister and I were always tagging along. And it was also my dad that taught me how to read a map. To this day, I can spend hours looking at a map.
I recall a particular trip we took in 1970. We traveled all over the state that year. Gas must have been real cheap because we had a most unorganized route. There was a good bit of zigzagging as we traveled from one side of the state to the other, and then back to the other. I was recently thinking about this trip, recalling the places we visited, and realized my father was much smarter than I realized at the time. After all, I was eleven at the time. Anyway, as I looked at the trip, I realized the destinations actually revealed a specific location. If you imagine that you are tagging along on the trip, you might be able to figure it out.
Here were the towns, in order, we visited:
Savannah
Statesboro
Baxley
Columbus
Carrollton
Albany
Jesup
Covington
Woodbine
