In the distant past this area was occupied by a dairy farm. When that operstion ended the abused land was largely abandoned and furthur abused by efforts to control the river without regard to preserving salmon habitat. Old cars were placed along the banks of the river in an attempt to limit errosion. Most of this material has been removed and the area is recovering for use by both humans and salmon.
Permission has been happily granted by the director of the Salmon Recovery Foundation which maintains the area.
This public trailhead will lead you to areas of the Methow River where restoration efforts are underway. The walk is recommended.
The trail will also lead you to additional geocaches GC8GY61 and GC9GE4B.
