Geocache Description:

Did you know there was once a railway station on this site?  If you look from the bridge you can still see the route of the track.

The station here opened in 1885 serving on the Alloa railway and closed to passengers in 1954. The line survived untill 1978 for goods to RNAD Banndeath - Royal Navy base at Throsk, which is also now closed.

The Alloa Railway was authorised on 11 August 1879 to link the South Alloa Branch of the Scottish Central Railway to the Stirling and Dunfermline Railway.
