You are looking for a Specimen container located just off the beach where Auston loves to play. This is a letterbox hybrid cache, which means it contains a stamp and a logbook; please note that the stamp must remain in the cache as it is not a trade item. The cache is located at the posted coordinates. If you wish to use the stamp you will need to bring your own stamp pad. Please bring your own pen to sign in and return as found.
Welcome to the Bald Head Peninsula!! A popular spot for boaters, this will be a busy spot on the weekends in the summer. This spot is accessible to the public by boat only. As you have to cross a major boating channel to get from the mainland to the island, swimming is not recommended. During the summer, you will see dozens Of boats lined up along the beach, on both the Wellers Bay side and the Lake Ontario side. When placed, we reached the island using a motorized boat and then waded along the sand bar to shore, however in calm conditions you can paddle to the island in canoe or kayak. I would strongly suggest launching from the public launch located at N 044° 01.955' W 077° 37.053'. If you are looking for a shorter paddle, there are several pay-per-use boat launches along Carter Road and Barcovan Beach Road such as the one located at N 044° 01.591' W 077° 37.615', which charges $8.00 to use the launch and park for the day.
Please always remember safe boating and pay attention to weather conditions. At times the lake can blow up quickly and make getting back to shore dangerous.
