Re-hidden due to cache being stolen in under a week of posting :(
Hammonds pond is a lovely park, and I think really underrated and thus a cache is needed. This cache is a nice easy one to park up and grab when you have the time, the location is fairly visible to Muggles from the car park if you aren't careful so please USE STEALTH to avoid attention (especially in winter when there isn't much tree cover).
The cache itself is a small fake rock, please let me know if there are any issues. :)
Please place the cache back exactly as found for future Geocachers to find.
A brief description of the park:
Hammond’s Pond takes its name from Archie Hammond, a market gardener from Upperby, who saw commercial potential in the old, flooded brick pits. In 1923, Archie opened ‘Pleasureland’ where people could enjoy boating, the animal enclosures and dancing on a Saturday night. Today, Hammond’s Pond offers a miniature railway, a café (limited opening), toilets, children’s play areas and aviaries. Away from the ponds, are football pitches, a ball court and a nature trail. The varied habitat attracts water and woodland birds, with many successfully nesting in the park. Look out for ducklings and cygnets on the ponds when visiting during the summer.
Opening times
Park: 8.30am until dusk every day.
Café: 12pm - 4pm weekends and school holidays.
Miniature Railway: 2pm - 4pm Sundays only (Easter to end of October).
Well done to rainmaker692 on FTF!
