Cryptozoology is the study of animals whose existence is disputed (often referred to as "cryptids". The word itself refers to the study of "hidden animals" and comes from the Greek words: kryptos, zoon and logos, which mean, respectively: hidden, animal, and discourse. There are a number of species that were thought to be extinct that have been found in recent history. Some of these formerly “hidden creatures” include the megamouth shark and the coelacanth.
One of the world's most famous crypts is Bigfoot or the Sasquatch. It is often described as an ape-like creature that inhabits forests, mainly in the Pacific Northwest region of North America. Bigfoot is usually described as a large, hairy, bipedal humanoid. Witnesses have reported that the creature ranges between 6–10 feet (2–3 m) tall, weighs in excess of 500 pounds (230 kg), and is covered in dark brown or dark reddish hair.
Keep a look out around Ellenfield Park! Hopefully you don't find Bigfoot stomping about, but you may find his cache hiding down low in the leaves.
