This cache is part of the Perplexing Puzzle series located exclusively in the Sumter National Forest. All of the caches are easy finds to reduce the impact on the environment. The Republic of Molossia
The Republic of Molossia is a 6.3 acre micronation located in Nevada and California. They claim independence from the United States but still pay property taxes which they conveniently dub “foreign aid”. Molossia’s currency is made from gambling chips and printed bank notes. They even have their own geocache (GC74KKK)!
Sultanate of Mustachistan
The Sultanate of Mustachistan is a former micronation which claimed to own a large portion of Nevada. This claim led to a land dispute between Mustachistan and Molossia resulting in an 18 day war. Unfortunately, Mustachistan’s space program, a model rocket named Goatshead, was decimated during the conflict. The war consisted of three battles: the Battle of Lake Jean, the Battle of Black Lizard Canyon, and the Battle of Rattlesnake Rift. In the naval Battle of Lake Jean, Molossia fought with the Canoe-class MS-3 Boomer and the Kayak-class MS-4 Old Towne while Mustachistan fought with two Kayak-class vessels, the Dagger and the Corsica.
Principality of Sealand
The Principality of Sealand consists of an offshore platform in the North Sea and holds the Guinness World Record for being “the smallest area to lay claim to nation status”. Sealand used to be in international waters. This fact was even successfully used to dismiss a court case when the owners of Sealand had a standoff with British workmen working on a nearby navigational buoy. Since then, Great Britain has extended its offshore claim putting Sealand well within Great Britain's territory. After an attempted coup in 1978, a group of former Sealanders were exiled and formed the Sealand Rebel Government in Germany.
Kingdom of Lovely
The Kingdom of Lovely is partly an internet-based micronation. Receiving inspiration from Sealand and a man who claims to own the moon, Dennis Hope, the Kingdom of Lovely was established with only an East London flat as its territory. Lovely has significantly expanded as citizens of Lovely declare their own homes to be embassies. Elections are held via online polls in messaging boards. Lovely’s currency is the Interdependent Occupational Unit (IOU) which can be exchanged for time.
Kaz
The Constitutional Pentumvirate of Kaz declared itself independent from the United States upon the inauguration of President Donald Trump. Kaz is a micronation entirely ruled by cats. The only legal religion of Kaz is Catism which mandates the worship of cats. Two languages are spoken in Kaz: Kazzian, a dialect of English, and, to a lesser extent, Cattish. Kaz claims a long history of bloody war in which Twinkle McFluffy, its leader, lead the nation to peace.
Aerican Empire
The Aerican Empire is largely internet-based but does claim land in Australia and Montreal, Canada among other pieces of scattered land. Additionally, Aerica claims to own a colony on Mars, the northern hemisphere of Pluto, and an imaginary planet. Although Aerica claims to be a parliamentary democracy, it does have an emperor.
