+++FOR YOUR EYES ONLY+++

From: Head of Section K

To: Agent G

Subject: Cipher Interception

For a number of months now we have been seeing significant blow-back in a number of overseas operations. After an investigation by the Y Section we have identified the mole and even intercepted their latest communication including a cipher grid:

and what we think is probably the encoded location of the dead drop: 30 42 75 59 114 79 92 74 100 85

Now according to the boffins from G division, we think that this is a simple additive cipher and the key will be a set of numbers that when subtracted from the above message will give you a grid reference on the cipher grid.

So for example is the key as was: 12 34 56

and the message was:  47 80 145 78 etc…

Then you’d:

47 - 12 = 35 = 5

80 - 34 = 46 = 1

145 - 56 = 89 = 5

78 - 12 = 66 = 2

etc…

Now whilst we think it is possible you will in time be able to reverse engineer the solution to this cipher we are hoping to apprehend the Mole.

The cache itself is small as befitting a dead drop so bring your pen / pencil
