Geocache Description:

This collection of caches has nothing to do with the Church Micro series in the UK. Given that the Australian 2016 census indicates that No Religion and Jedi Knight are the fastest increasing classifications of the optional religion question "What is the person's religion?" it is not surprising that there is surfeit of empty churches that have been repurposed.

Pioneer Chapel was the first Chapel built in the Bordertown district in approximately 1879 with the opening in 1880. The Congregational chapel consists of a rectangular building of coursed limestone with stone quoins in Gothic style with a corrugated iron gabled roof. Later a gabled entry porch was added to the street frontage.  After the formation of the Uniting Church in 1977 this building became the church hall. It was then
owned by an undertaking firm as a funeral chapel. The local council subsequently restored the building as the Pioneer Chapel.  Recently the building has been sold to a dentist.

There are multiple years mentioned on the front of the building.  The two that are of interest are in the Jubilee plaque.  Note these years as ABCD and EFGH.  The final location of the nearby cache is at S36° 18.CGD E140° 46.GFB

Checksum: 13 & 19
