I placed this cache while out photographing turtles one spring afternoon in the Laura Howe Marsh. This area is an active nesting site with snapping turtles and painted turtles using the soft sand as incubators. Habitat enhancements like this are designed to replicate natural turtle nesting areas typically found on roadsides. Turtles travel from their forested wetland habitat to find habitat suitable for nesting.
The cache is a small one, tucked into a safe spot. Stealth may be required at times as many people use the trails through here and visit the marsh.
If you do see a nesting turtle please watch from a distance.
