Jei jau nagrinėjame klasikinius šifravimo algoritmus, tai atėjo laikas susipažinti su garsiuoju Kryptos uždaviniu. Tai Amerikos menininko Jim Sanborn sukurta skulptūra, kuri 1990 metų lapkričio mėnesį pastatyta Centrinės Žvalgybos Valdybos (CŽV) teritorijoje Virdžinijos valstijoje Lengli mieste. Jos stenduose užšifruoti keturi pranešimai, kurie ir praėjus 30 metų vis dar nėra pilnai iššifruoti.
Trys tekstai iš keturių buvo perskaityti 1992--1999 metais, tarp pirmųjų dešifruotojų buvo ir CŽV bei Nacionalinio Saugumo Agentūros specialistai. Įdomu tai, kad kai kurie sprendėjai apsiribojo tik pieštuko ir popieriaus pagalba.
Bet net ir praėjus 30 metų vis dar neiššifruotas paskutinis K4 skyrius. Ši dalis yra trumpesnė už kitas tris, ją sudaro tik 97 raidės. Beje, dėl to uždavinys yra tik dar sudėtingesnis. Matydamas, kad niekam nepavyksta perskaityti K4 teksto, J. Sanborn atidengė kelis žodžius, tokios "dovanos" visada palengvina šifruotojo darbą. 2010 metais jis pranešė, kad žodis BERLIN yra užrašytas nuo 64 iki 69 teksto pozicijose, 2014 metais atskleidė, kad žodis CLOCK yra užrašytas sekančiose penkiose pozicijose. Visai neseniai, 2020 metų vasario mėnesį J. Sanborn pateikė dar vieną hintą -- žodis NORTHEAST yra užrašytas nuo 26 iki 34 teksto pozicijose. Rugpjūčio mėnesį jis papildė šią žinutę -- žodis EAST yra užrašytas nuo 22 iki 25 pozicijos.
Tarp Kryptos uždavinio sprendėjų populiari hipotezė, kad K4 dalis yra užšifruota naudojant abu algoritmus, kuriais užšifruotos K1 (bei K2) ir K3 dalys. Tiesa, ši hipotezė kol kas neatvedė iki sėkmingo finalo, bet duotojo geo uždavinio koordinatės yra užšifruotos būtent taip. Tai, kad dabar jau žinote, kaip sudarytas algoritmas, smarkiai palengvina Jūsų užduotį, bet visgi teks ir pamąstyti, kai ieškosite koordinačių.
It is a time to consider the famous Kryptos mystery. Kryptos is a sculpture by the American artist Jim Sanborn located on the grounds of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in Langley, Virginia. It was opened on November 3, 1990. It's been nearly 30 years since this tall scroll with thousands of letters was set in place and still the code is not fully decrypted.
Three of the four passages of the sculpture have been decrypted between 1992 -- 1999. This group of active decoders included also NSA and CIA cryptoanalysts. By the way some of analysts used only pencil and paper techniques to solve them.
But after nearly three decades, the last brief passage K4 remains uncracked. The fourth section is shorter than the others, it’s just 97 characters, a fact that itself presents a decryption challenge.
Seeing that nobody solved the K4 part, J. Sanborn has offered "cribs", i.e. words that appear in the decrypted (plain) text. The 2010 clue was the word BERLIN, in the 64th through 69th positions of that final passage. In 2014 he revealed the word CLOCK in the next five positions, 70 through 74.
Recently, in February 2020 J. Sanborn has offered another clue -- word NORTHEAST, in the 26th through 34th positions. In August 2020, Sanborn revealed that the four letters in positions 22–25, ciphertext "FLRV", in the plaintext are "EAST".
Among Kryptos codebreaking community a popular hypothesis exists that a cipher for K4 was constructed as a combination of two ciphers used to solve the first three passages of the sculpture. OK, up to now no good news were obtained, but the coordinates of the given geo mystery are encrypted by this cipher.
