You do not need to cross the crash barrier to find this cache. You should not even leave the pavement!
This is the first in a series of lakes and ponds flowing southwards, the water flows past the end of Greenham Common, under the old flight path, parallel with the A339. It joins up with a series of lakes behind St Gabriel's School, eventually flowing into the River Enborne (marking the county boundary between Berkshire and Hampshire) near the black and white Swan Pub.
This pond is known to support great crested newts, kingfishers have been seen here and there is sometimes a moorhen nest in the bulrushes directly in front of the bridge. Evidence of both fox and hedgehog have been found in the woodland area. Sometimes pigeons nest in the outflow pipe to the left of the bridge.... making their cooing very echoey.
This cache is now a M&S Biscuit tin 10cm x 26cm x 15cm, "The Party Bus". There is now a pen attached to the inside of the lid.
